Tutorial Assistance
Tutorial Assistance
Educational achievement gaps tied to socioeconomic conditions have persisted for decades in California, leaving many young people—especially those in disadvantaged communities—without the support they need to succeed academically. CDRI’s tutorial spaces respond to this reality by offering learning environments that complement formal schooling and help students develop strong intellectual foundations.
What We Offer
We provide tutorial assistance to middle and high school students in language, mathematics, and science. Tutors work with students to strengthen core concepts, build essential skills, and develop attitudes and habits needed for sustained academic growth.
Each student works with a consistent tutor, allowing for personalized attention, trust, and continuity. Tutors follow each learner carefully—tracking progress, identifying gaps in understanding, and collaborating with parents through visits to homes.
A Different Kind of Tutoring
Years of experience have shown that meaningful educational progress requires more than support in completing assignments. CDRI’s approach focuses on deepening understanding, encouraging disciplined effort, and helping students approach learning with joy. As these capacities develop, students improve academically and also develop the ability to learn and access knowledge independently.
Nurturing Intellectual & Moral Growth
Our tutorial assistance recognizes that the aims of learning must include both intellectual and moral growth. As students encounter ideas related to justice, cooperation, truthfulness, and other moral principles, they advance not only academically but also in their ability to contribute to the well-being of their communities.
